Dr. PopowatiDrh. Popowati

Drh. Popowati comes from Malang in East Java and studied veterinary medicine at Airlangga University in Surabaya from 1996 to 2003. She has been working at the Care Centre since February 2004 and loves her work very much. Besides the daily routine she is responsible for wounded orangutans in the National Park around Camp Leakey and for the rehabilitation station Lamandau. Drh. Popowati reports there is a great need for better technical equipment at the Care Centre, for instance a blood analysis machine. Moreover, a fast internet connection is needed. Specialists, above all ophthalmologists and physiotherapists, are as much needed as experienced vets and general physicians, even if only on a visiting basis. A good command of English is necessary though.
